Objective:To evaluate the value of automated breast volume scanner(ABVS)and ultrasound(US)in differentiation of benign and malignant with breast imaging reporting and data system(BI-RADS).Methods:Totally 272 breast lesions from 240 patients were checked by ABVS and US with BI-RADS.The sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value and accuracy of US and ABVS were calculated to evaluate the BI-RADS classification of breast lesions taking the pathology as the gold standard,comparing the diagnostic performances of the two methods.Results:1.There were 152 benign breast lesions,120 malignant breast lesions in the 272 breast lesions.The sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value and accuracy of US were 80%,83%,79%,84%and 82%respectively.The sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value and accuracy of ABVS were 93%,88%,86%,94%and 90%respectively.The sensitivity rate of ABVS was significantly higher than that of US(X2=57.2,P<0.05).2.In the study,calcifications was found to account for 58%of the malignant breast lesions’ and 6%of the benign breast lesions.The sensitivity rat of malignant breast lesions was higher than that of benign breast lesions(X2=28.49,P<0.05).The detection rate of ABVS finding calcification was 56%.The detection rate was 35%in US finding calcification.Comparing US,the detection rate of ABVS was higher.ABVS could found more calcifications,so it is helpful to improve the accuracy of BI-RADS.3.Convergent sign account for 48%and 2%respectively in the malignant breast lesions and the benign breast lesions.The sensitivity rat of malignant breast lesions was higher than that of benign breast lesions(X2=54.5,P<0.05).The specificity rate of Convergent sign was high.ABVS could found Convergent sign,so it was helpful to improve the accuracy of BI-RADS.4.The 240 patients with 272 breast lesions were divided into 3 types.Stagnation of liver-Qi was 120;Chong-ren dysfunction syn was 55;phlegm and blood stasis was 65;The sensitivity rate of phlegm and blood stasis blood flow is higher than that of Stagnation of liver-Qi and Chong-ren dysfunction syn(P<0.05).Conclusion:Comparing US,ABVS has a higher value in breast lesion,BI-RADS classification and in diagnostic efficacy for benignity or malignance.ABVS could found Convergent sign and more calcifications,so it was complementary to BI-RADS.Ultrasound could provide more objective basises for syndrome differentiation.
