The Research Of The Approach Of "Knowledge First" In Epistemology

Till now,people already have acquired much knowledge about the world by different types of exploration and the question that epistemology concerns occur in each type of the exploration.Generally,these questions could be solved under the specific situation,but if our discussion about these question is deep enough,these issues could be solved only in the field of epistemology.“Knowledge First” is a kind of new approach in epistemology,which provides us with an overturning perspective to handle these problem without falling into the dilemma which is disturbing the “Knowledge analyzing” approach.careful investigation of this brand-new approach is needed,in this paper I will do some research about the “Knowledge First” approach from four aspects.In first chapter attempts made by the supporter of the “Knowledge analyzing” to solve the “Gettier Problem” and Williamson`s introspection about the predicament of the foregoing approach will be introduced,because the “Knowledge First” approach put forward by Williamson is based on his introspection about the foregoing reductive and analytical approach.Chapter 2 will summarize the “Knowledge First” approach from two aspects: “Knowing is a mental state” and “Knowledge as the unexplained explainer” according to Aidan McGlynn.At the same time this chapter tends to reveal Williamson`s view of philosophy of mind and philosophy of language by sketching out his arguments,which is the basis of the rationality of “Knowledge First” approach.Then we could know how Williamson handle with the Surprise Examination by Anti-KK principle in the “Knowledge First” approach from the third chapter,and Williamson use the same principle to reject the sceptism.In this chapter I would evaluate the Anti-Luck account of the “Gettier Problem” from the “Knowledge First” perspective which is a hot issue in contemporary epistemology.Apparently,the concept “Knowledge” is the starting point and the foothold of the “Knowledge First” approach,although this approach is based on our new understanding of mental states in metaphysic and the influence of this approach focus on the explaining pattern of the epistemic concepts about the methodology,concerning about that “Knowledge First”approach combines the metaphysic,epistemology and the methodology organically,Consequently,the research of this approach has important philosophical significance and theoretical value,which would help to expand our horizons about the epistemology.
