| With the continuous development of the national economic and the level of residents’consumption,China has become the world’s second largest consumer of diamonds while the United States remains No.1.And it is expected that the proportion of China’s diamond jewelry retail sales in the global market will continue to increase.At present,there are a large number of players in diamond jewelry industry of China,due to the market concentration is not high.Because of the increasing demand of diamond jewelry in China recent years,new players keep entering this market,which means competition is becoming more intense.While the penetration of Internet and information technology grow fast in this industry,there are still a large number of companies that rely on traditional family-owned operations to manage their diamond procurement and supply,which is no longer effective and can’t meet the needs to survive and make further development under increasing market competition.Only by realizing procurement management informationization and building up a scientific decision-making system,can we achieve efficient,convenient and low-cost supply of diamonds.On the other hand,the way to strengthen the information sharing and exchange ability between the upstream and downstream,and select strategic partners in each link of the industry chain in order to achieve more effective resources integration,has gradually become a new key for procurement management of every companies.In the beginning,this article has analyzed the common problems of diamond procurement and supply management that are faced by J company and many other companies.According to the feature of cross-regional and cross-organizational management in diamond supply management,it has proposed a solution for developing information platform of diamond procurement and supply management,which is designed to improve the information asymmetry and subjective decision-making in diamond procurement.This article has investigated the procurement and supply management business of companies in diamond industry and summarized key business needs by sorting out the key business processes,and then completed the design of the main functional modules of this information platform,based on actual business scenario.At last,after the launch of the Diamond Procurement and Supply Management Information Platform,the functional applications of the main business modules and the implementation effects are evaluated to verify the validity and scientificity of this platform design.On this basis,this paper puts forward a conclusion of the research on developing diamond procurement management information platform,which provides a practical reference for companies in the diamond industry chain. |
