Hairpin is one of the traditional Chinese hair ornaments and one of the oldest jewelry in China.With the changes of history,braids didn’t disappear in the long river of history,it has been preserved to this day,and they are constantly developing and changing with the change of Times.The Ming and qing dynasties are the last two feudal dynasties in Chinese history,it was also the heyday of hairpins’ development.This article selects hairpins from Ming and qing dynasties to explore the development and changes,and to understand the inheritance and innovation of hairpins.In this article I first retrospect the development and change process of hairpins from ancient times to the Ming and qing dynasties,and subdivides them into five periods:the origin,the initial development stage,the middle development stage,the mature development stage and the peak development stage to understand the inheritance and change of hairpins.Many hairpins survived from Ming and qing dynasties,there are also many records of hairpins in some ancient tomb murals,literati paintings,novels and historical materials.Through the comparison and analysis pf materials,this paper summarizes the development and changes of hairpins in styles,decorative patterns and craftsmanship between the Ming and qing dynasties,styles civided into six categories,patterns and craftsmanship all divided into five categories to deserve.Finally summarizes and analyzes the influence of historical development,social character and national culture on the development and change of hairpins.Hairpins in Ming and qing dynasties inherited the excellent culture and skills of the previous dynasty and have their own characteristics.They are an epitome of jewelry culture in two dynasties,we can see a small part of dictionary artist in two dynasties and will have some inspiration to creation in the future.Due to my limited ability,only analysis and research from the existing data,if there are some shortcomings,please correct.
