China’s population base is large,the aging speed is accelerating,the aging population is increasing rapidly,the current pension resources are not able to meet the needs of the elderly,compared with the development of medical treatment,health care,the elderly entertainment life has received little attention,and there are few educational toy design for the elderly.At the same time,the mode of providing for the aged in our country is based on community home care.However,community services for the aged are mainly aimed at meeting the basic needs of the elderly at the present stage,which are relatively single.There are no special community entertainment services,and the recreational facilities in the community are not perfect.In view of the lack of nowadays educational toys products in the elderly,based on the Dadong community in Guangzhou as an example,through literature research,interviews and participatory observation,make user research at the entertainment scene under two stakeholders: the elderly and social workers volunteers and collected the elderly in the community life forms of entertainment information,then dismantling and the analysis of the activity process.Based on the theoretical framework of SAPAD,this research topic establishes a relationship between the structure,function and module of the product and the meaning obtained in the process of user entertainment.Through deconstructing,analyzing and mapping the relationship between behavior,meaning and object,a user-centered product construction strategy is established to realize design innovation.Combined with six levels of meaning guidance,several design opportunities for educational toy products for the elderly are finally defined.Finally,in the conceptual design stage,the functional service module is reconstructed to output the product service system of the elderly community entertainment: the system includes the small program design and the productdesign of the elderly billiard ball toys.Small program has entertainment information inquiry,appointment,feedback and other functions,also has a toy page to help promote the game,optimize the elderly’s experience in the process of community entertainment activities.Then,according to the design opportunities,the design of educational toy products for the elderly in the service context was completed.The product is a multi-person interactive billiard toy for the elderly,including the following features: 1.The product is a multi-person cooperative billiard toy with simple gameplay and rules,suitable for the elderly.2.The man-machine size and function can be improved for the aging of the elderly.The height of the product can be adjusted according to the height of the elderly,the color can be optimized and improved according to the visual characteristics of the elderly,and the function of grip strength and thrust support can be increased according to the needs of the elderly.3.Taking into account the needs of the community,the product storage form is more convenient.4,to ensure that the toys are easy to learn and easy to use,in line with the cognitive habits of the elderly.This study explored the application of SAPAD method in the field of community entertainment activities and toy product design,provided new ideas and Suggestions for the community home care service project,and attempted to provide new ideas and methods for the design of educational toys for the elderly.
