Study On The Post Occupancy Evaluation Of Interior And Furniture In Children’s Picture Book Library

Since my country published the "Outline of Chinese Children’s Development(2011-2020)",children’s reading has received unprecedented attention.The Children’s Picture Book Library has emerged and flourished,but the interior space and furniture design of the Children’s Picture Book Library urgently need to be improved.In this study,the Beijing Children’s Picture Book Library is set as the research scope,the user is the research subject,the Picture Book Library environment composed of users,furniture and space is the research object,and the improved post-occupancy evaluation system is the main research method.Specifically,this study first applied the literature research method,based on the practice of pilot investigation,and the theoretical basis of child psychology and environmental behavior.It innovatively applied the post-occupancy evaluation system to the space and furniture design of the Picture Book Library.The research is composed of four parts,the picture library’s space and furniture and operation overview,user behavior,post-occupancy evaluation of children and parents,the results of which were cross-examined to explore the relationship between the environment and people and propose targeted design suggestions.The article aims to explore a more comprehensive,scientific and systematic practice method for children’s public reading indoor space and furniture evaluation.The main conclusions of this study are five points:(1)The high-crowded,spacious,and colorjumping picture book library will trigger dynamic behaviors,and the mismatch between the size of the furniture and the children will exacerbate the children’s leisure and play behaviors.The low traffic,space boundaries and supportable furniture will promote static and loose individualized behavior.(2)Children’s favorite picture book library is full of fun and with pretty space and furniture.(3)The design elements that parents are most concerned about are the safety and comfort of space and furniture.The factors such as the functional division of the space,furniture comfort,noise and other factors that are not conducive to parent-child reading behavior need to be improved.(4)The environmental design of the picture book library can uphold the principles of safety,functional usability and community,respect the feedback of all users from an inclusive perspective,and run through the concept of harmony and difference.(5)The integration of child psychology methods into the post-occupancy evaluation system can effectively get the needs of children;evaluation and cross-confirmation through the combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods will enhance the effectiveness of evaluation research.
