Float valve as the most important mass transfer components,domestic and foreign technologies are open up and down,in order to reduce the pressure drop,this paper developed a side opening float valve,its disc is hinge type two-way side opening and closing,and the body structure does not contain the valve leg,valve foot,etc.,theoretically can reduce the pressure drop of the tray.In order to verify the design rationality of the side opening floating valve tray,the hydrodynamics and mass transfer performance of the tray were tested in this paper and compared with F1 floating valve tray and 3D circular valve tray.The side-opening float valves involved in this study are divided into flat plate type and guide tooth type,referred to as T1 type and T2 type.In the study of fluid mechanics,T1 and T2 plates were tested in a multifunctional variable-diameter tower using an air-water system.The mass transfer performance was studied by using ethanol-water system,and three kinds of T1 plates with weir height were tested in the two modular towers.The results show that in terms of pressure drop of dry plate,both T1 and T2 increase with the increase of F factor,and both of them are lower than F1 tray and 3D round valve tray.In terms of total plate pressure drop,both T1 and T2 increased with the increase of liquid flow.When the liquid load was 6m3/h,the advantages of the side opening floating valve under low gas velocity were not obvious.When the gas velocity was high,T1 tray was about 70 Pa and50Pa lower than F1 tray and 3D round valve tray,respectively,and T2 tray was about176 Pa and 161 Pa lower than F1 tray and 3D round valve tray,respectively.In general,the higher the air velocity,the more obvious the pressure drop advantage of the side opening float valve tray.In terms of operating elasticity,T1 was 11.76% higher than T2.In terms of mass transfer performance,with the increase of F factor,the efficiency of T1 plate has three stages: sharp rise,slow down and sharp decline.The t1-2 tray(weir height is 50mm)was selected for the comparative experiment,and the plate efficiency was improved by about14% compared with F1 tray,and slightly lower by 2% compared with 3D circular valvetray.
