Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of abdominal acupuncture combined with five elements music therapy in treating climacteric syndrome with liver and kidney yin deficiency, and to provide a safe and effective new method for the treatment of climacteric syndrome.Method:60 female climacteric syndrome patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into the treatment group(n = 30)and the control group(n = 30).The treatment group was treated with abdominal acupuncture combined with five elements music therapy, while the control group was treated with tibolone(7-methylenethindrone).Both groups were treated for 4 weeks.Menopause Rating Scale(MRS),TCM syndrome scale,Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)were scored before and after treatment.By observing the change of each scale score before and after treatment, the efficacy of the two groups was compared.Results:1 There was no statistical difference in age, course of disease, menstrual status,MRS score,TCM syndrome score,SAS score and SDS score between the two groups before treatment(P > 0.05).2 The total effective rate was 93.33% in the treatment group and 86.67% in the control group. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05).3 MRS scores in both groups were significantly lower after treatment than before(P < 0.01).Compared between groups, the treatment group was superior to the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).4 MRS symptom scores in both groups were significantly lower after treatment than before(P < 0.05).Compared between groups, the treatment group was superior to the control group in improving hot flashes, sweating, irritability, anxiety and fatigue, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in improving other MRS symptoms between the two groups(P > 0.05).5 TCM syndrome scores in both groups were significantly lower after treatment than before(P < 0.01).Compared between groups, the treatment group was superior to the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).6 SAS and SDS scores in both groups were significantly lower after treatment than before(P < 0.01).Compared between groups, the treatment group was superior to the control group in improving SAS score, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05),while there was no statistically significant difference in improving SDS score between the two groups(P > 0.05).7 During the treatment, there were no adverse reactions in the treatment group. In the control group,3 patients had distending pain of the breast,2 had vaginal bleeding, and 1 had weight gain.Compared between groups, the treatment group was lower than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion:1 Abdominal acupuncture combined with five elements music therapy had significant effect on climacteric syndrome with liver and kidney yin deficiency, and the overall effect is similar to western medicine tibolone.2 Abdominal acupuncture combined with five elements music therapy can effectively improve the quality of life and TCM syndromes of climacteric syndrome patients with liver and kidney yin deficiency, especially superior to western medicine tibolone in improving hot flashes, sweating, irritability, anxiety, fatigue symptoms. 3 Abdominal acupuncture combined with five elements music therapy can effectively improve the mental and psychological symptoms of climacteric syndrome patients with liver and kidney yin deficiency, which is superior to western medicine tibolone in improving anxiety state and comparable to western medicine tibolone in improving depression state.4 Abdominal acupuncture combined with five elements music therapy is of high safety and promotion value.
