Prevalence,Awareness,Treatment,Control Of Hypertension,and Associated Factors:Resuits From The Rural Areas Of Western Liaoning Province

Hypertension has become a major public health challenge worldwide due to its high prevalence and the associated risk of cardiovascular and kidney disease.Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in China,and hypertension is its most important modifiable risk factor.With the economic development,urbanization and population aging,the burden of hypertension and cardiovascular disease in China has gradually increased.The prevalence,awareness,treatment rate and control rate of hypertension are important parameters for the prevention and treatment of hypertension.The prevention and control of hypertension should be the focus of public health work in the future.Objective:By investigating the prevalence of hypertension in rural areas of western liaoning province,evaluating the prevalence,awareness,treatment rate and control rate of hypertension,this paper provides relevant strategies for the management of hypertension in this area.Methods:Based on the principle of stratified cluster sampling,from September2017 to May 2018,a representative sample of 6097 resident residents aged ?40 years in rural areas of western Liaoning was collected.Basic information such as gender,age,average annual household income,education,and marital status of the survey respondents were collected.Lifestyle information such as drinking,exercise habits,eating habits,and family history of hypertension,diabetes,dyslipidemia,stroke were examined.Other illnesses and diagnosis and treatment,physical examination such as height and weight,and blood pressure were also concluded.Venous blood was drawn for blood routine andblood biochemical laboratory tests.Assess the prevalence,awareness,treatment and control rate of hypertension,and determine the relevant influencing factors of hypertension awareness,treatment,and control through stepwise logistic regression analysis.Results:1 Prevalence,awareness,treatment and control of hypertension in rural areas of western LiaoningA total of 6097 subjects were included in this survey,including 2414males(39.6%)and 3683 females(60.4%),with an average age of 59.15 ±10.33 years(60.40 ± 10.20 years for men and 58.33 ± 10.33 for women).At present,the prevalence of hypertension is 58%(standardized rate 52.2%)for the people aged 40 and over in rural areas of western Liaoning.The crude rate is 59.2%(standardized rate 53.8%)in men and 57.2%(standardized rate52%)in women.Grade 1 hypertension is 30%,17.5% of grade 2 and 8.1% of grade 3.The prevalence of prehypertension was 28.4%.The prevalence of hypertension increased significantly with age,and the prevalence of hypertension in both men and women increased with age.Hypertension awareness rate is 48.3%(male 41.8%,female52.8%;P<0.001),treatment rate 34.5%(male 27.5%,female 39.2%;P<0.001)and control rate 4.3%(male 3.2%,female 5%;P=0.007).Women's hypertension awareness,treatment and control are better than men's,while women and men taking antihypertensive drugs have similar control rates(men11.5%,females 12.8%;P = 0.517).With the increase of age,the awareness rate and treatment rate of people aged between 40-79 years old gradually increased(P<0.001).The control of hypertension gradually increased with age between 40-59 years old,and the control rate decreased with age after the age of 60(P=0.019).2 Related factors of hypertension prevalence,awareness,treatment and control in rural areas of western LiaoningThe relevant influencing factors of hypertension are age,gender,BMI,education,drinking,diabetes,dyslipidemia,stroke and family history of hypertension.Factors related to hypertension awareness are age,gender,BMI,drinking,eating habits,diabetes,stroke,and family history of hypertension;factors related to hypertension treatment are age,gender,BMI,marital status,drinking,eating habits,Family history of diabetes,dyslipidemia,stroke,and hypertension;and factors influencing hypertension control were gender,diabetes,stroke,and family history of hypertension(P <0.05).Among them,gender,diabetes,stroke,and family history of hypertension are the common influencing factors of awareness,treatment,and control.Conclusion:The prevalence of hypertension in the middle-aged and elderly population in rural areas in western Liaoning is significantly higher than the national level,and hypertension awareness,treatment and control needs to be further improved.The analysis of related risk factors can improve hypertension prevention measures in the region,provide scientific basis for early establishment of sound hypertension management.The prevention and control of hypertension should be the focus of public health work.Local governments and primary health care providers should strengthen publicity and education on hypertension in rural residents,especially for men and elderly people to effectively prevent and control hypertension in rural residents,and reduce the prevalence of hypertension.
