Objectives :To study the effect of osteoporosis training on the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis in patients with fragility hip fracture. Methods :A retrospective analysis was concluded on 651 cases of elderly patients who are aged? 50 years with fragility hip fracture in our hospital from January 2013 to December 2015.During the period of 2013-2015,a group of orthopaedic surgeon conducted two or more times of training in osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment. The 651 hip fracture patients were divided into two groups with and without the osteoporosis training for orthopedic surgeons. The bone mineral density, bone turnover markers, the number of patients who received serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D and the situation of training among the training group and the untrained group were recorded respectively. The bone mineral density, bone turnover markers and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D detection rate and anti-osteoporosis treatment were compared.Differences between the two groups were compared using c2 test.P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:A total of 651 patients with fragility hip fracture, aged 51-103 years, mean age(78.20 ± 10.09)years old, male to female ratio of about 1:2.The orthopedists trained in osteoporosis treatment received 220 patients with brittle hip fractures, including 109 patients(49.5%)who underwent bone mineral density examination,130(59%)who underwent bone turnover markers,124(56.4%)who were tested for serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D and 177(80.5%)were treated with anti-osteoporosis during hospitalization; The orthopedists didn't be trained in systemic osteoporosis treatment received 431 patients of brittle hip fractures, including 142 patients(32.9%)who received bone density examination,124(28.8%)who detected by bone turnover markers,125(29.0%)were tested by serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D,and 313(72.6%)were treated with anti-osteoporosis during hospitalization.Bone mineral density, bone turnover markers, serum 25 OHD detection rate and anti-osteoporosis treatment rate were significantly higher in the training group than in the untrained group, and the difference was statistically significant.(?2 = 15.181?56.277?42.024 ? 4.242,P < 0.05).Conclusions: Generally, the detection rate and treatment rate of osteoporosis after fragile hip fracture are still low.Orthopaedic surgeons who participate in the training of osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment twice or more each year will improve the bone turnover markers, bone mineral density and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D detection rate in patients with fragility hip fracture, and improve the treatment rate of osteoporosis.
