Since 1960 s,driven by World women's movement and the history of innovation,the study of women's history and gender history gradually rise,the study in order to explore the relationship between women and gender in the human history,and gradually developed into a new field of historical research.Last year,the Shanghai Normal University hosted the "history of women and gender studies" the publication of the first issue,has promoted the research in this field.This article is from the perspective of prehistoric archaeology,through single tombs reflect information,the research about Hehuang area from 3600 to 4500 years ago on gender culture condition,in order to make a little contributions for historical research in this field.Late Neolithic tombs in Hehuang area is typical in gender studies,this paper is mainly based on published archaeological data in this period,select the 15 tombs that the number of human bone in more than 20 cases of 491 sex identified tombs as the research object.Through the gender difference analysis of the burial customs and other aspects in the tombs of three periods about Banshan type,Machang type and Qijia culture,to explore the differences of Hehuang area in the late Neolithic Age between the sexes in social status,social division of labor and the distribution of social wealth,further from the two aspects of time and space to systematically explore the gender differences in funeral customs reflected in the social problems.In this paper,the use of tombs archaeological materials analysis,statistical analysis and comparison chart analysis to study.The article mainly from the population sex data statistics,single burial style,tombs specifications and funerary object types four aspects to discuss the gender differences of single tombs funeral customs in the late Neolithic Age in Hehuang area,and make a comparative study on the gender single burial style,tombs specifications and funerary object types in the late Neolithic Age in Hehuang area tombs on the whole,then discusses whether there are gender differences in social status,social division of labor and the distribution of social wealth at that time.The main innovation of this paper lies in: firstly,the previous study of the tombs in the late Neolithic Age in Hehuang area,mostly focus on the traditional level,there arefew articles from the perspective of gender studies to examine the social nature and the social organization structure at that time.This article mainly from the male and female single tombs burial customs and other aspects to study the social problems such as gender distribution of wealth and gender division of labor;Secondly,the paper mainly studies in the same area have been the development of Banshan,Machang type and Qijia culture of burial customs of gender differences,in different periods of gender single burial style,tombs specifications and funerary object types with a quantitative and statistical research,with the method of using chart visually,as well as make a comparative study on the gender funeral customs of different periods,in order to explore the diachronic changes of Hehuang area in the late Neolithic Age gender burial customs.
