| Happiness is an eternal pursuit of human society. As early as two thousand years ago,Plato’s "Republic " has already foresaw profoundly the problems existing in social development and put forward the view that people should pursue social justice and happiness.Plato’s" Republic"is a book that explains how people should live.Plato took the soul of man as the starting point and focus, and thought that happiness is a harmonious state of human soul, which is also called justice. This is Plato’s initial definition of happiness.Plato believes that the core element of happiness is the virtue of justice, which is the realization of virtue in all parts of the soul.,Wisdom temperance, bravery, and justice are the objects of the soul’s pursuit, and the soul has an ultimate object for the pursuit of the best,And the people who has achieved good, gained good knowledge, and seen good self are truly happy people, and such people only are philosophers.Philosophers know what true wisdom, temperance, courage, and justice are. These virtues are derived from the highest good-the supreme good. Therefore, justice virtue, which is the core element of happiness,in the city-state,Justice is the virtue that makes the city happy, and it makes the city go to perfection. In the "Republic",there are two major relationships concerning human happiness, namely the relationship between the individual and the self.In the relationship between the individual and the city-state,it is divided into the relationship between the individual and the philosophy king and the city-state,and the relationship between the individual and the city-state is inseparable. The individual’s happiness is inseparable from the city-state,and the city-state’s happiness also requires the individual’s efforts;but the philosopher has the pursuit of his own true happiness, and the realization of the city-state’s happiness requires the rule of the philosopher.Because philosophers have the knowledge of true good, they can rule the polis and achieve justice at the root, and make the whole of the city-state happy. In Plato’s paradox about philosophy king.We have made a new investigation and interpretation.Plato’s concept of happiness inherited from Socrates and had an important influence on his student Aristotle’s view of happiness.Plato’s conception of happiness has a historical position in ancient Greece’s view of virtue happiness, and Plato’s view of happiness of virtue is inherited from Socrates and forms a more complete system by Aristotle’s inheritance and development. The idea of happiness in the Republic has its limitations because of its history and its own reasons. But there are reasonable factors in linking human moral qualities to rational control of lust.A study of Plato’s View of Happiness in the Republic Drawing on the theoretical resources of happiness and seeking theoretical guidance to solve the problems of materialism, hedonism and moral problems,it is of great practical significance to guide us to pursue moral spirit. |
