With the development of Chinese economy,people's requirement for educational quality becomes higher and higher.It is required that the New Curriculum Standard pay attention to individual differences and group difference,including gender differences,and give full play to the advantages of students of different gender so that they can achieve better development.When it comes to the gender differences in junior middle school,some people hold the views that girls do better than boys,while some people consider girls are weaker than boys or even some standpoints that there is no difference between different genders.The thesis aims at improving the teaching efficiency in junior middle school,and stimulating students' personality development.First of all,through a questionnaire to teachers,to find out whether teachers' opinions about gender differences are consistent with the students' views from the macro level;and then did analysis to students' test scores of three examinations.After the analysis of test scores and questionnaires,the author finds that the gender differences in learning English are significant,and the differences appear in different aspects,such as learning motivation,learning interests and so on.At last,the thesis has put forward different teaching strategies to improve English teaching level.Firstly,the author prepared a questionnaire for all of the English teachers in Yonggu middle school.The questions involved in their general opinions to gender differences,the contents of gender differences and related teaching strategies.Then the thesis made a survey about final examinations of three grades,by the way of independent-samples T test,calculating the average number,variance,and standarddeviation of boys and girls English scores respectively.The result shows that:compared with other subjects,there exist obvious gender differences in English.No matter in excellent rate,passing rate,or average scores,girls do better than boys.Besides,the author did questionnaire research,and the result turns out that there exist wide differences in learning attitude,learning motivation,learning methods and attitude to examination.After reading a large number of literature,this thesis finds out the causes of gender differences in junior middle school students' English learning from aspects of biology,intellectual factors,non intellectual factors and external environmental factors.Based on the survey,the reason,as well as the analysis results,the author respectively puts forward some teaching strategies: teachers should establish a correct concept of gender difference,adopt active teaching methods,efforts to tap the potential of English learning in terms of boys',girls' develop congenital advantages,and train the students to obtain different development,so as to improve the quality of education and English teaching in rural middle school.Gender differences objectively exist in junior middle school,teachers should respect gender differences and teach according to different gender.
