In recent years,the classroom environment has become a hot topic in the field of educational psychology,educational sociology and scientific education.As a major place for students to learn science and construct knowledge,it has an important influence on teachers' teaching and students' learning.Meanwhile,students' autonomous learning also gains increasing popularity in the field of second language acquisition.The cultivation of the students' autonomous learning ability is also one of the research focuses in education for its great realistic significance.A lot of researches have proved a positive and favorable classroom environment can promote students' autonomous ability.However,the analysis of the relationship between the classroom environment and the students' autonomous learning ability is relatively few.Thus,this paper mainly investigates the potential relationship between classroom environment and the students' autonomous learning ability.The author chooses 305 students from Taiyuan University of Technology.With quantitative and qualitative methodologies,the author wants to explore the correlation between college students' perception of English classroom environment and their autonomous learning ability.The research questions are listed as follows :(1)What is the current status of students' perception of English classroom environment and their autonomous learning ability?(2)Is there any difference in the college students' perception of English classroom environment among students of different Grades,genders and majors? And is there any difference in their ability of autonomous learning?(3)Is college students' perception of English classroom environment related to their autonomous learning ability?In this paper,SPSS 19.0 is used to analyze the quantitative data of the questionnaires.The author also analyzes the results of the interview.The major findings are listed as follows:(1)College students' perception of classroom environment is in good condition.The students' autonomous learning ability is on a medium level.(2)There are differences in the collegeGrades.(3)There is significant correlation between students' perception of classroom environment and their autonomous learning ability.Finally,the author puts forward some suggestions.As for teachers,they should update their knowledge and improve their teaching ability,give students more guidance and support in their study,assign learning tasks that can stimulate students' interest,train students to use various learning strategies,pay attention to teaching equality to every students,encourage students to take active part in group discussions.As for students,they should complete tasks carefully,take active part in the class activities,use some effective strategies to improve their learning efficiency.Teachers and students should work together to create a positive and favorable classroom environment so as to enhance students' autonomous learning ability.Due to the limitation of time and author's research ability,there also exist many deficiencies that need to be studied in the future investigations.
