| Globalization has brought unprecedented exchanges and integration of languages and cultures across countries,which causes the large demand for literary works translation in decades.In recent years,extensive foreign popular literary works and bestsellers are translated into Chinese.These Chinese translation versions not only provide Chinese readers with a window to learn about foreign cultures and languages,but also enrich the readers’ spiritual world.As one of the most popular genres,military novels have a large number of readers,especially a large number of male readers.There are also many military or war-related films and literary works published every year.Therefore,the first and foremost purpose of military novels translation is the readers’ acceptance and reading needs.And also,it is essential to translate a readable version that is consistent with readers’ taste.Novel translation belongs to literary translation in general,which is different from the others with its own characteristics.Based on the skopos theory,the author translated the British writer Alan Burnett’s short story The Flight of Black Cat.First,the report introduces the research significance and purpose of the project.Second,it has introduced the theoretical basis of this practice,and combines the theory with the characteristics of this translation practice.Third,it has explores the corresponding translation strategies and translation methods by ample example analysis.And the translation should not only consider the language habits and thinking patterns of Chinese readers,but also find the language close to the original text to illustrate the style of the novel.Finally,in general,the report sums up the experience of the practice,and put forward some suggestions for novel translation.The practice will also expand the application of skopos theory in novel translation. |
