With the advancement of the education reform,more and more people are beginning to realize that education which can bring high scores is not the ideal education.The truly advanced and scientific education is one that can improve learners inquiry ability and enable the learners to possess lifelong learning ability.The English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School says,"The general English curriculum of senior high school advocates that the view of English activities,independent learning,cooperative learning,inquiry learning and other methods that point to the core quality of the subject." Inquiry learning conforms to the requirements of the new curriculum reform.It attaches great importance to problem-solving,emphasizes self-inquiry,places the students into the language learning context of the conversation and cooperation,and aims to cultivate students’ independent learning ability,spirit of exploration and innovation.Improving the teaching effect of English vocabulary and optimizing English learning methods have been attached great importance in various schools.In middle school,students’ vocabulary directly affects their listening,speaking,reading,writing and translation abilities.So it is imperative to strengthen the vocabulary teaching and explore an effective vocabulary learning model.Based on a sample of senior two students,this paper conducts an empirical study by using literature analysis,questionnaire survey,experiment,classroom observation and interview,aiming at exploring the feasibility of exploratory learning strategies in senior high school English vocabulary teaching.This paper mainly studies the following three questions:1.To explore the current situation and problems of inquiry learning ability in English vocabulary of senior high school students.2.How to apply inquiry-based learning strategies to improve students’ English vocabulary learning?3.How effective is the strategy of using inquiry learning ability in vocabulary teaching in senior high school?Through the statistical analysis of the data obtained from the empirical study,the results show that exploratory learning strategy has a positive impact on English vocabulary learning in senior high schools.It can improve students’ English vocabulary learning level to a certain extent and further stimulate their interest in English vocabulary learning.
