On the basis of practicing experience of the author,taking Pengheng university in Malaysia as the main object of investigation.The author analyses deeply and found that some problems about teaching and learning characters.By means of compare chinese class and character class,then the author want to find some solution strategy about this situation.First,the teaching of characters in Chinese class is limited,and the students' ability to understand characters is limited.Because of the limited content of Chinese characters class,the problems in learning characters are widespread and difficult to solve.But contrary,character class is a independent subject,the students' ability to understand characters are more professional.The students will learn characters by themselves carefully.The problems in learning characters are concentrated and easy to solve.The students who learn characters are higher of the same examination than the students who don't learn characters.Second,teachers generally lack the knowledge of character ontology,which leads to the irregular teaching of characters.Some teachers who teach chinese class think that it is not important for the students to learn characters.So they don't take any requirements for characters.And the character homework in chinese class is mainly based on transcription,which is not reflected in the test paper.On the contrary,the character homework in character class is presented from many aspects and angles,so that the students can learn characters better,and the end of the class will be presented in the form of the character test paper.Third,the books used in the chinese course is a comprehensive textbook,and characters are not taught as main content;the books used in the character course is disorderly and inconsistent,and they are not combined with the actual demand of the students of Pengheng University in Malaysia.Chinese and character classes are one-week one-class,and the length of class hours are far from enough,which is not conducive to the long-term learning and development of characters.Fourth,the current school does not attach great importance to the learning of characters,which also leads to the slow development of Chinese characters.Based on the investigation and analysis of the above problems,the author thinks that:First,from the students' demand and performance in class,it is necessary to add optional courses of characters or to increase the class hours of characters.Second,from the perspective of teaching situation,the author suggests that teachers' training should be added to improve teachers' professional skills.Due to the single teaching method in characters class,it is also an urgent problem to design diversified teaching methods and add characters content to the examination and evaluation.Third,according to the actual situation of Pengheng University,a set of characters textbooks is compiled for students to learn characters.Fourth,School should be aware of the importance of teaching characters,organize more activities and increase the publicity of characters.
