This thesis focuses on the creation and performance of George Gershwin's Three Preludes for Piano Soloworks.George Gershwin is a famous American composer in the 20 th century.He combined pop jazz and classical music perfectly and by using the genre of prelude,he created the piano works Three Preludes for Piano Solo,which is the only solo work of all his piano works.This thesis would firstly introduce the background of this work,and some former studies of the origin and development of American music and jazz music in the 20 th century.Then a brief introduction to Gershwin and his music creations and a detailed analysis of Three Preludes for Piano Solo would be given.On this basis,combined with the author's experience in the process of practice and the performance,elements of the whole work are analyzed from the aspects of playing method,pedal,jazz style,etc.Based on the above researches,this thesis aims to give the performers a better understanding of Gershwin's creative style and musical characteristics,as well as a more accurate control of the musical characteristics and performance skills of Gershwin's Three Preludes for Piano Solo.An analysis such as this will be,hopefully,of values in a better understanding and performance of this work,and positive influence to other performers.
