The Application And Performance Of Jazz Elements In Gershwin’s Three Preludes

George Gershwin(1898-1937)was a famous American pianist and composer in the 20 th century,and Three Preludes was his only solo work composed for piano.Based on the background of Gershwin’s Three Preludes,this paper will analyze the jazz elements used in rhythm and harmony.This paper probes into these three works from the aspects of speed conversion,strength change,treatment of special timbres,pedal use and so on,combined with the performance treatment of jazz piano,and puts forward the understanding and views on the jazz style characteristics and performance aspects of this work.
