As an authoritative expert on aphasia,Brooke Hallowell’s Aphasia and Other Acquired Neurogenic Language Disorders is an excellent material for studying aphasia. This translation practice report is based on the translator’s analysis and summary of the translation practice of chapters 10 and 11.The two chapters mainly introduce the symptoms and characteristics of different aphasia and the cognitive communication disorders associated with TBI.The report is divided into four parts. The first part is a brief introduction of the translation task, mainly analyzing the author’s research direction, main works and writing style, and explaining the purpose of the topic selection and the significance of the research. The second part describes the translation process, including the the preparation of the topic selection, the time plan of the translation task, the selection of the auxiliary tools for the translation, the confirmation of the framework of the thesis and the collection of the main problems encountered in the process of translation. The third part is the translation practice analysis.According to the theories and principles of semantic translation and communicative translation, the translator makes a brief analysis of the text from the aspects of vocabulary, sentence, collocation and logic. The principle of semantic translation can restore the semantic meaning of the original text to the greatest extent, and is more inclined to the structure and grammar of the source language. The principle of communicative translation enables the readers of the targetlanguage to form the same feelings as the readers of the source language and pays more attention to the readers’ response.Using the above two translation theories and principles to guide translation practice can ensure the realization of semantic equivalence and communicative function of the text. The fourth part is a summary of translation practice. The translator summarizes, reflects on and concludes the defects, deficiencies as well as experiences gained in the process of translation.Hoping that the translation practice achievements and experiences of the translator can provide some references for scholars and translators in relevant fields.
