The translation material of this report is Between the World and Me(excerpts),a novel written by the famous American writer Ta-Nehisi Coates.Between the World and Me which was written in the form of a letter to his fifteen-year-old son walks us through the course of Coates' life,from the tough neighborhoods of Baltimore in his youth to Howard University.Coates described his observations and the evolution of his thinking on race with his profound and powerful language,which is a searing meditation on what it means to be black in America today.The report consists of five chapters.Chapter one is the task description,which includes the introduction to the task and the translation material as well.Chapter two is the process description,including the preparations for translation,the translation process,and the post-translation edition.Chapter three is the theoretical framework of the report,which introduces the origin and development of Hermeneutics and George Steiner's translation theory.Chapter four is the case analysis,based on George Steiner's fourfold motion,trust,aggression,incorporation and compensation,analyzes and reveals the translation process through 15 different examples.Chapter five is the conclusion,which sums the report from the limitations and the reflections.
