Driven by economic globalization,the exchanges between China and the world have become increasingly deep,and the importance of English has become increasingly prominent.At present,many enterprises in China use the way of exploring the international market to enhance their overall strength.In this rapid development situation,the demand for talents has also increased significantly.As a skill talent transportation channel,secondary vocational education plays a major role in satisfying the needs of enterprise talents.However,the students currently trained in vocational schools do not have the language ability requirements of the enterprises when they are employed.Although the students have received systematic English learning at the school,their language application ability is poor.As an important course in the public foundation course of secondary vocational education,public English has long faced the problems of obsolete teaching mode,low student learning effectiveness,neglecting the needs of students,and the English ability of students is difficult to adapt to the language needs of the workplace.In order to promote teaching reform and improve teaching effectiveness,this paper starts from the cultivation of professional core competence,and studies the project-based teaching of public English in secondary vocational schools.It puts forward the teaching measures which take the workplace-oriented skills as the core,the project as the carrier,and highlight the cultivation of professional core competences.Through a series of teaching measures,the reform effectively improves the teaching effectiveness,improves the students’ practical skills in the workplace,improve students’ professional quality so as to better adapt to the needs of future jobs and enhance employment competitiveness.This paper provides some reference for exploring the innovation of the public English teaching mode of secondary vocational schools.This article consists of five parts.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the background,significance,status quo,methods and objectives of the research.The second chapter is the related concepts and theoretical foundations.This chapter expounds the connotation and characteristics of project-based teaching and professional core competences,and introduces the three theoretical foundations of the project-based teaching research.The third chapter is the investigation and analysis of the current situation of public English teaching in secondary vocational schools.The students of Hainan H Vocational School and the teachers of Hainan three vocational schools are selected as the survey objects.The questionnaire survey is used to conduct an in-depth investigation into the current situation of students’ English learning and the status of public English teaching in order to fully understand the current problems in public English teaching in secondary vocational schools,and to deeply analyze the reasons for the current teaching problems.The fourth chapter is the focus of the research.It describes in detail the design and implementation of public English project-based teaching in secondary vocational schools based on professional core competences.It specifically expounds the characteristics and design principles of project-based teaching,and based on the characteristics and principles,project-oriented teaching is implemented through the teaching concepts,teaching contents,teaching mode methods and the construction of the teaching staff and etc..The application process of project-based teaching in practice has been presented.The fifth chapter is the evaluation of project-oriented teaching.The author explains the effectiveness and problems in the process of project-based teaching,and finally points out the suggestions for improvement in practice.
