The focus of higher education should be changed from cultivating people who possess knowledge and skills to cultivating people with innovative ability.However,there is still the problem of "innovative education as elite education" in innovative education in China's college.To a large extent,students are not allowed to participate in innovative education.STEAM education can provide ideas and practical guidance for the cultivation of innovative ability.Therefore,this study is based on the perspective of STEAM education,and proposes strategies for designing learning activities to cultivate college students' innovative ability.Firstly investigates the origin and development of STEAM education through literature review,and analyzes the connotation of STEAM education.Then it is based on the multiple intelligence theory and constructivist learning theory and the cultivation of innovation ability in STEAM education in practice.Then extracts the learning design principles of STEAM education and innovation ability,which answer the question Why STEAM education can promote innovation ability training" from the theoretical and practical aspects.Then based on the principles,the design strategy of learning activities for college students' innovative ability training from the perspective of STEAM education is proposed.It includes six articles:1.establishing innovative-oriented learning objectives and leading innovation,2.designing open-minded learning themes with boundaries and inspiring innovative thinking,3.providing high-quality resources for interdisciplinary integration and forming an innovative knowledge base,4.setting up a multi-source open collaborative space and supporting innovative practices,5.conducting project-based iterative activities and enhancing the innovation experience,6.Diversified evaluation around innovation and deepening innovation results.This study selected 52 undergraduate students in the third year of education technology in a university in East China as the research object.Using the design-based research method,the proposed learning activity design strategy was applied to the design of the learning activities of the TV Directing and Production course.Based on the above strategies,the learning activity design framework applied to specific teaching was obtained.The framework was constructed from six aspects:learning objectives,teacher behavior,learning activity process,student behavior,learning resources and learning environment,and then carried out two rounds of teaching practice.Through the analysis of students' ability to innovate(innovative knowledge base,innovative thinking,innovative practice ability),student feedback analysis and learning activity design strategy improvement,the following research conclusions are obtained:1.The learning activity design strategy proposed in this study can be used in teaching practice to achieve better learning results.After the first round of learning activities,students are based on innovative knowledge(all students reach a medium level,more than two-thirds of students achieve good and above),and innovative thinking performance(relative to the overall score improvement before learning activities)The performance of the big and innovative practice ability(students overall innovation practice ability evaluation score is greater than 60%of the total score)is better overall.Through interviews,it is learned that students have a positive attitude towards whether the design of learning activities cultivates innovative ability.They believe that such learning activities can promote the development of their innovative ability,among which the innovation-oriented learning objectives and learning evaluation,the cross-over provided in learning resources The core issues of the discipline,the project design and the exchange evaluation during the learning activities are all factors that promote the development of innovation capabilities.2.In the learning activities based on the improved strategy,the students' ability to innovate has been significantly improved.In terms of the basis of innovative knowledge,the medium-level study group reduced by 4 groups,and the students gradually transitioned from the lower level to the higher level.In terms of innovative thinking,the overall value of students' innovative thinking has been significantly improved compared with the first round.In addition to precision,the fluency,flexibility,originality and sensitivity of students'innovative thinking have been significantly improved.In terms of innovative practical ability,the overall improvement has been significantly improved,and the scores of students in theme innovation,structural innovation and performance innovation have been significantly improved.
