The conjugal relationship is the foundation of all human relations, and it is of great significance to family stability, social stability and so on.The Han Dynasty was the stereotypical period of feudal ethics.Based on the significance of the conjugal relationship, the rulers and scholar-bureaucrats were urged to regulate the conjugal relationship.Among them, the concept of conjugal relationship not only has great influence on the Han Dynasty, but also on thousands years later of ancient China.People tend to use men are superior to women to describe the conjugal relationship of the Han dynasty.Nevertheless, from the perspective of the rights and obligations, the crimes and the divorce, there existed distinct discrimination between husband and wife in the Han Dynasty. But,it should not be ignored that the Han dynasty,as a feudal re-established unification period, new and old disputes were entwined and the system was loosed. There were appeared some new changes in the relationship between the husband and the wife, for example, the couple's status was relatively equal in the early Han Dynasty, the wives of the Han Dynasty possessed certain personal rights, property rights and freedom of marriage, their family status in the Han Dynasty were slightly higher than that in the later dynasty. In addition, the Han dynasty's conjugal relationship does not fully comply with the principle, men are superior to women. Not only does the common family do not comply with an absolute husband-wife relationship model, but there are also special families such as marriage the princess and matrilineal residence,Which even deviated from the feudal ethical order.Generally speaking, the conjugal relationship can not simply summarize as men are superior to women.Because it is complex, there are differences in the relationship between different types of husband and wife.It is also dynamic, showing distinctive characteristics of the times. All of this is due to the comprehensive effects of various factors, such as politics, economy, thought, custom and so on.
