As China’s international status constantly improve, a large number of foreign students come to China to learn Chinese, world each country also started the Chinese fever trend, it will actively promote the vigorous development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. But Chinese belongs to the Sino-Tibetan language family, it has own unique language system and grammar rules, these uniqueness also become the difficulties for the foreigners.For the Chinese preposition, which is low quantity but high use frequency, it need the overseas students learn one by one, so Chinese preposition reserach is a difficult point in teaching Chinese as a second language. Although scholars have done a lot of research about its belonging to, category,meaning and function, but relating to a single preposition there is some shortcomings, especially on the preposition Zai(在) and Yu (于), the predecessors do not have an associated topic research, so this paper takes it as the topic.Firstly, the article analyzes the usages of preposition Zai(在) and Yu (于) in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language Grammar, Chinese Level Standards and Grading Syllabus and some Chinese as a foreign language textbooks,such as Road to success, Chinese Course. Secondly, writer studys the paper, which choose from <Dynamic Corpus of HSK Composition>and the author’s questionnaire investigation, in order to sum up the mistakes of the students in using the preposition Zai(在) and Yu (于).The error types are mainly concentrated in:preposition misuse, improper word order, prepositions gaps and redundant, preposition frame errors and omissions. Then to find the causes of errors from the Chinese language and mother tongue transfer, the interference of the target language, the learner’s own factors, the impact of the external environment. Thirdly, through the errors made by foreign students, analyzes the location, time, category differences of the preposition Zai(在) and Yu (于) in order to aid the Chinese as a foreign language teaching, to help students to further understand the similarities and differences between the two.Finally, the paper proposes corresponding teaching strategies,such as focusing on comparison,enlarging language input, improving the frequency of word recurrence, grasping the difficulties of each phase, combination of error correction and pre-treatment.
