Idiom is the essence of a national language and culture.Chinese numeral idiom,as a special kind of Chinese idioms,not only present the characteristics of general idioms,but also reflect the long-standing Chinese numerical culture.The education of numeral idiom could not only promote overseas students' understanding on Chinese culture,also help overseas students to break the thinking set and improve their Chinese level.The paper,based on the previous research results generated from numeral idiom,studied the attitude,cognitive level and acquisition condition of overseas students from advanced course on numeral idiom by means of questionnaire survey.Finally,according to the division of native language background of all overseas students,the corresponding teaching strategies were put forward to realize a more targeted study on TCSL numeral idiom teaching.The paper was mainly divided into the following four parts.The introduction part briefly introduced the purpose and significance of research topic,research overview,range of study and object of study,definition of related concepts,research materials and research methods.Chapter one made the detailed analysis on numeral idiom from two aspects of structure and semantic,and held the characteristics of numeral idiom from the whole to the details.From the perspective of structure,like other phrases,numeral idiom can be roughly divided into five basic structural styles,that is,subject-predicate structure,verb-object structure,adverb-verb structure,parallel structure and supplementary structure.From the perspective of semantic,the semantics of Chinese numeral idiom include the original meaning and extended meaning of numbers,as well as the semantics generated by the collocation of various numbers.Chapter two summarized the number of numeral idioms presented in teaching programme and some teaching materials used by advanced course,and then investigated and analyzed the advanced course overseas students' subjective attitude towards numeral idiom and their acquisition condition of semantics and culture,from the perspective of that whether the native language background of overseas students belong to cultural cycle of Chinese characters,aiming to make full preparation for the teaching advice to be proposed in next chapter.Chapter three,with regard to the arrangement of numeral idiom in advanced teaching material,gave corresponding suggestions,and put forward a series of pertinent teaching strategies on the basis of characteristics of numeral idiom and the acquisition condition of numeral idiom by overseas students in advanced course,such as,for overseas students whose native language background belonging to Chinese cultural circle,common Chinese cultural background should be utilized to promote students' understanding on numeral idiom and the rules of numbers involved in idioms should be grasped as well;as for the overseas students from non-Chinese cultural circle,multiple teaching methods should be adopted to fully mobilize their interest in learning.The conclusion made an overall summarization,and indicated the writing purpose of the paper and pointed out the deficiencies existing in.
