In recent years,ecological environment deterioration problems in coastal areas caused by human activities have become increasingly prominent.In order to achieve the management of coastal ecological environment information more efficiently and provide support for managers to make decisions,the geographic information system of Liaoning Province coastal marine functional zoning is developed by collecting information through Liaoning Province coastal marine functional zoning survey,using ArcGIS 9.3 to edit original data and create database,using the Visual Basic 6.0 compiling software system framework to establish basic framework of the system,using OLE technology to embed Map Objects 2.2 to control to further improve geographic information processing functions,the geographic information system for Liaoning Province coastal waters functional zoning is realized.The results show that the coastal area of Liaoning Province is divided into 95 functional zones,including 10 first level zones,19 second level zones,13 third level zones,50 fourth level zones,2 special used zones and one dilution zone.Moreover,the geographic information system can realize graphical displaying and controlling function,interactive querying of spatial information and attribute information function,making thematic map function,statistics and analysis of monitoring information function.This system can make statistics,analysis and evaluation of pollutant source information,functional zones monitoring information,rivers emptying into the ocean monitoring information,national examination section information in Liaoning Province.This system has advantages of friendly interface,convenient operation,nice expandability,which can provide technical support for the efficient management of coastal marine function zoning information.
