Taxonomy And Biogeography Of Tribe Platyscelidini From China (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

The tribe Platyscelidini are mainly distributed in Palearctic Realm and Sino-Japanese Realm in the world fauna.The species diversity in China is great but no classification work yet.Therefore,its meaningful to the research status of China and the world by doing this work.This work studied the taxonomy and biogeography of the tribe Platyscelidini from China and finished on the base of substantial specimen collected from all over the country.This paper contains two parts: the general part and the classificatory part.The general part includes the taxonomic status and classification system,research history,materials and methods,morphological character,defensive glands and molecular biology,phylogeny and biogeography of the tribe platyscelidini.The classificatory part includes the identifying features of know genera and species,keys to the genus,subgenus and species,synonyms and citations of each taxon,characteristic figures,information of specimens and distribution,and type depository of each species.There are 80 characteristic figures and 142 photos altogether in this paper.After the work,we have received the following achievements.127 species belonging to 4 genera of the tribe Platyscelidini from China are described and 66 of them are newly to the science: Bioramix(Cardiobioramix)acutus sp.nov.,B.(C.)amplithorax sp.nov.,B.(C.)baimiense sp.nov.,B.(C.)baiyunshana sp.nov.,B.(C.)barkamiense sp.nov.,B.(C.)curvitibia sp.nov.,B.(C.)emarginatus sp.nov.,B.(C.)globipunctata Bai & Ren,2016(in publishing),B.(C.)jinchuaniensis sp.nov.,B.(C.)jiuzhaigoense sp.nov.,B.(C.)liupanshana Bai & Ren,2016(in publishing),B.(C.)longitibia sp.nov.,B.(C.)markamicus sp.nov.,B.(C.)mesiabdominis sp.nov.,B.(C.)milatapunctus sp.nov.,B.(C.)ovalatis sp.nov.,B.(C.)punctata sp.nov.,B.(C.)sinumarginis sp.nov.,B.(C.)songpana sp.nov.,B.(C.)xiaojina sp.nov.,B.(C.)yajiangina sp.nov.,B.(C.)zhugqiense sp.nov.and B.(Leipopleura)chenduna sp.nov.,B.(L.)baxoensis sp.nov.,B.(L.)comaiensis sp.nov.,B.(L.)corinutis sp.nov.,B.(L.)curvialata sp.nov.,B.(L.)damxungana sp.nov.,B.(L.)degana sp.nov.,B.(L.)dilatatis sp.nov.,B.(L.)flavidus sp.nov.,B.(L.)foveosulcata sp.nov.,B.(L.)fusca sp.nov.,B.(L.)globilicollis sp.nov.,B.(L.)golmudana sp.nov.,B.(L.)hirta sp.nov.,B.(L.)maqenana sp.nov.,B.(L.)maquana sp.nov.,B.(L.)multiseta sp.nov.,B.(L.)nangqenana sp.nov.,B.(L.)nigricans sp.nov.,B.(L.)nigronitida sp.nov.,B.(L.)planitibia sp.nov.,B.(L.)qamdiana sp.nov.,B.(L.)quadrata sp.nov.,B.(L.)recta sp.nov.,B.(L.)riwoqensis sp.nov.,B.(L.)ruficonis sp.nov.,B.(L.)rufipadalis sp.nov.,B.(L.)scaliforma sp.nov.,B.(L.)seritibia sp.nov.,B.(L.)tiani sp.nov.,B.(L.)tibertana sp.nov.,B.(L.)tibialis sp.nov.,B.(L.)tingriensis sp.nov.,B.(L.)xinghaiensis sp.nov.,B.(L.)yadongana sp.nov.,B.(L.)yushuana sp.nov.,B.(L.)zadoiense sp.nov.,B.(L.)zekogana sp.nov.,B.(L.)zoigensis sp.nov.and Oodescelis(Acutoodescelis)minxiana sp.nov.,O.(A.)henanana sp.nov.and O.(Ovaloodescelis)tachengensis sp.nov.and Platyscelis(Platyscelis)densipunctata sp.nov.,P.(P.)jonensis sp.nov.A new record species to China: Bioramix(Leipopleura)darbukensis(Kaszab,1940)and a new synonym: Bioramix(Leipopleura)micans(Reitter,1889)=Platyscelis(Platyscelis)obovatus Ren,1999 syn.n.The larvae and pupae of Bioramix(Leipopleura)reinigi(Kaszab,1940)are reported for the first time in this paper.The phylogeny of 4 genera are established on the base of adults morphological characters and the result showed that the genus Myatis and Bioramix have the closest relationship,they are sister group to genus Platyscelis,and all of them are sister group to genus Oodescelis.Based on the analysis of biogeography,we inferred that the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau was the species differentiation zone of the tribe Platyscelidini from China.
