In today's society, science is an unavoidable topic. The issue of scientific progress is the core topic that scholars of philosophy of science and history of science pay attention to.The scientific revolution is the mainstream answer in the philosophy of science to answer the question of the way of scientific progress, but different scientists have different understandings of the scientific revolution.Whether it is the paradigm shift theory, the falsifiable theory,or the disintegration of the universe and the geometricalization of space, these theories are limited to the logical level when explaining the scientific revolution, and it is easy to bring the scientific revolution into the path of irrationalism. For this reason,Bernard Cohen discussed the scientific revolution from the perspective of the history of science, and objectively clarified the essential attributes of the scientific revolution. With the rapid development of science and technology today, the theory of the scientific revolution may not be able to keep up with the trend of the development of the times, nor may it be able to fundamentally solve the problems faced in scientific work, but the discussion on the scientific revolution still has its existence. The scientific revolution ideas are not only It is to solve the current problems in science and to provide ideas for future scientific development. The research method of this paper is mainly text analysis, supplemented by comparative analysis. The details are as follows.First,it introduces the influence of previous scholars on Cohen's scientific revolution thought, and details the embodiment of Sutton's unity thought,Koyré's conceptual analysis and anti-Whigg history thought in Cohen's scientific revolution thought.Kuhn is a philosopher of science often mentioned by Cohn in the research of scientific revolution. In addition to exploring the influence of Kuhn's revolutionary thought on Cohn, the paper also pointed out Cohn's development of Kuhn's thought.Rebutted,he believed that the scientific revolution was not just generated from a crisis, but was affected by multiple factors. The second is that Cohen revised the way of judging Kuhn's scientific revolution.Cohn believed that the objective judgment standard based on historical facts should be used.Second,it systematically discusses the nature of Cohen's scientific revolution, introducing the two criteria of scientific revolution, namely, the historical standard and the logical standard, the essence of scientific revolution is the phenomenon of conversion, and the "stage theory" of scientific revolution, that is,the inevitable occurrence of scientific revolution. The four stages of classics include the ideological revolution, the faith revolution, the essay revolution, and the scientific revolution.Thirdly,it evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of Cohen's scientific revolution thought, and unearthed the enlightenment of revolutionary thought on science and social development. The rich connotation of Cohen's scientific revolution thought still has important enlightening significance for today's research.
