With the wide application of architectural coatings,the requirement of product quality stability is becoming stricter and stricter.In order to win the market in the industry competition,many paint manufacturers continue to explore advanced quality management methods to solve the common quality problems of coatings,such as color difference,blooming,peeling and so on.As a kind of water-borne environmental protection paint,natural sand is the main raw material for the development of stone lacquer.The stability control of product quality is more difficult than other coatings.N company’s stone lacquer is the most contribution to the revenue of Engineering products,but it also receives most complaints from customers.Among which,the problem of chromatic aberration is particularly prominent,to which the current quality management methods cannot provide effective solutions.Through comparative study,we find that the Six Sigma management system has certain edges and can make up for the shortcomings of the current N company’s quality management.In this essay I will talk about using the stone lacquer color difference improvement as a pilot project,adapting the DMAIC model of Six Sigma,to look for an effective solution for N company.A dedicated team was formed to go through all customers’feedbacks and we have concluded:chromatic aberration is the key issue that has cost N company’s quality consistency on stone lacquer.We carefully exanimate the whole production process,by using statistical analysis tools such as Pareto,SIPOC,MSA,Cpk,5M1E,matrix causality analysis,hypothesis test,etc.With the help of Minitab quality analysis software,we finally find the key solution:Stricter quality control in sourcing raw materials and minimizing bubbles in production.After six months of implementation,the process capability Cpkof Lacquer’s color difference was improved from 0.72 to 1.36 before implementation,the quality stability was greatly improved.The successful implementation of the Six Sigma Project has decreased the rate of color difference from 56.1%to 37.4%in N company.The customer satisfaction was improved,the communication and coordination between departments has been greatly improved,and the Six Sigma quality culture has initially formed within the company.At the same time,it has accumulated new management knowledge and practical experience for N company to further promote Six Sigma.
