The climate issue is a common problem facing by all mankind. It is the common responsibility of every country and region to establish a reasonable carbon emission constraint mechanism and mitigate climate change. The strategy of the Rise of Central China is a central policy of the Chinese government to revitalize the central region and promote the common rise of the central economic region. In order to ensure the sound and rapid development of the central region,it is necessary to carry out a systematic accounting and analysis of the carbon emissions in the central region.Based on the input-output tables of China and the world, this paper uses the multi-regional input-output method to calculate the production-based carbon emissions,consumption-based carbon emissions and trade-implied carbon emissions transfer of six provinces in central China(Shanxi,Anhui,Jiangxi,Henan,Hubei and Hunan)in 2012 and 2015.Based on the structural decomposition analysis, the driving factors of production-based and consumption-based carbon emissions are decomposed. The results of this paper are as follows:First,as a whole, the production-based carbon emissions of the six central provinces in 2015 decreased comparing with 2012,while the consumption-based carbon emissions increased comparing with 2012.Among them, the production-based and consumption-based carbon emissions in Anhui provinces increased rapidly, while the production-based and consumptionbased carbon emissions in Shanxi province decreased significantly. The carbon emissions of production-based and consumption-based of Henan province ranked first among the six central provinces, while Jiangxi province were the smallest.Secondly,in terms of domestic trade,Shanxi and Anhui provinces are net carbon emission exporters, while Jiangxi,Henan,Hubei and Hunan provinces are net carbon emission importers. In terms of international trade, the six provinces in central China are all net exporters, which emitted a large amount of carbon emissions in order to meet the final demands of other regions abroad.Thirdly, the results of structural decomposition analysis at the production side show that the general reduction of the direct industrial carbon emission intensity and the adjustment of the industrial structure have produced positive emission reduction effects, while the increase of per capita output value and the increase of population lead to more carbon emissions. From the perspective of consumption, the change of production structure in Shanxi,Anhui and Hunan provinces leads to more consumption-based carbon emissions, while the other provinces have the opposite effect. The change of the direct carbon emission intensity and the change of the final demand structure can inhibit the consumption-based carbon emission.Increasing per capita consumption and increasing population lead to more consumption carbon emissions.
