Clinical Study On Mild And Moderate Cancer-related Anemia Treated With Yixue Shengsui Recipe

Objective: Yixue Shengsui Recipe was used to treat mild to moderate cancer-related anemia is based on the theoretical basis of Yiqi Yangxue Jianpi Bushen Method.Explore the advantages of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in improving patients’ anemia,quality of life,and TCM syndromes.Evaluating the effectiveness and safety of Yixue Shengsui Recipe,and seeking more methods for the treatment of cancer-related anemia.Results: A total of 60 eligible patients were collected from June 2019 to July2020 in Chinese Medicine Hospital Affiliated to Southwest Medical University.The random number table and the envelope method were used to divide the patients into treatment group and control group at a ratio of 1:1.The control group was treated with erythropoietin(EPO).The treatment one used EPO and Yixue Shengsui Recipe.Hemoglobin(Hb),red blood cell count(RBC)and absolute reticulocyte(RET#)were compared in different time periods(the 4th week and 6th week of treatment),and the TCM syndrome scores,quality of life scores,safety indicators and adverse reactions of the patients were compared before and after treatment.The collected data was analyzed by SPSS 25.0software.Results:The baseline data of the two groups were comparable.(1)Anemia-related indicators:the hemoglobin of the two groups of patients in the 4th week of treatment(treatment group 103.13±7.24 vs control group 98.27±8.89,P=0.024),red blood cell count(treatment group 3.38±0.21 vs control group 3.30±0.14,P=0.047),the hemoglobin of the two groups of patients in the 6th week of treatment(treatment group 108.87±6.44 vs control group101.13±10.88,P=0.001),red blood cell count(treatment group 3.49±0.16 vs control group 3.36±0.15,P=0.002).The Hb and RBC in the treatment group were both higher than control group in the 4th and 6th week of treatment;The absolute value of reticulocytes of the two groups did not change significantly.After 6 weeks of treatment,the RET# of the treatment group was lower than before(before treatment 66.33±16.81 vs after 6 weeks treatment 61.80±16.50,P< 0.001),the control group had no significant change(before treatment68.23±17.96 vs 6 weeks treatment 64.70±16.08,P=0.059);(2)TCM syndromes:After treatment,the total scores of TCM syndromes of two groups decreased(treatment group 7.60±3.22 vs 3.97±1.87,P<0.001,control group 7.93±3.47 vs 5.87±2.60,P<0.001),The treatment group was better than the control group in improving palpitation,dizziness,numbness of hands and feet,facial and lip color.(3)Quality of life: The physical function scores of the two groups both increased after treatment,and the curative effect was equivalent(treatment group 78.00±19.19 vs control group 75.56±19.20,P=0.624);In the areas of fatigue,shortness of breath,nausea and vomiting,loss of appetite,constipation,and diarrhea,the scores of the treatment group decreased more obviously than control group;(4)Clinical efficacy: the effective rate of the treatment group was 73.3%,while the control one was 46.7%.The difference between the two was statistically significant(P=0.035);(5)Safety and adverse reactions: The two groups of patients had no serious complications or other life-threatening conditions,and the liver and kidney functions after treatment had no obvious abnormalities.The adverse reaction rate was 3.33% in the treatment group(1 case of vomiting)and 6.67% in the control group(1 case of headache,1 case of abnormal blood pressure).Conclusion: Yixue Shengsui Recipe combined with EPO could effectively increase the hemoglobin of patients with cancer-related anemia.At the same time,the TCM symptoms and quality of life of patients could be improved.So it is worthy of clinical application.
