| In the face of the progress of the times and social development,Eco-translatology theory has become an emerging theory in the field of translation studies, and has received increasing attention and recognition from translation researchers since Prof.Hu Gengshen proposed the theory.Originated from Darwin’s“survival of the fittest”theory, and developing from the philosophical ideas and ecological wisdom of orientalism,Eco-translatology theory has formed its own features in the translation theory system. This new translation theory combines the two fields of ecologism and translatology and conforms to the requirements of the modern time.Due to its new, harmonious and multidimensional research paradigm, the Eco-translatology theory provides a new perspective for guiding its practice and strategy applications in the translation process.Guided by the Eco-translatology theory, this study focuses on the strategies’use of Zhu Ziqing’s prose works translation, namely,“Spring,”“Green,”“The Transient Days,”“Seeing Father from the Back,”and“The Oar-splashing and Lantern-illuminating Qinhuai River”.In this process, the applicable methods were summarized with the purpose to shed light on the future prose translation practice.Eco-translatology theory has its unique Chinese characters and has been keeping developing and improving in the 21stcentury.It meets the modern society’s needs and keeps pace with the times, promoting a new change in the use of translation strategies. It achieves outstanding performance in the literary text translation with a particular use in the three-dimension conversions, that is,language, culture, and communication, which provides a new theoretical perspective and strong theoretical support. Therefore,it has a significant effect on deepening understandings of the literature text implications, writing styles and the author’s writing intentions. It helps promote Chinese culture to the world so as to better carry forward the essence of traditional Chinese culture. The use of translation strategies in the translation process is particularly important. An experienced translator knows how to choose various strategies in different contexts and in dealing with different texts so as to enhance the effects of translation works. In Zhu Ziqing’s prose works, there are many descriptions of the environments. What’s more, the language complexity and the culture background coexist in the depiction of characters. Therefore,it is suggested that translators try to cultivate appropriate translation strategies based on the Eco-translatology theory in the process of translating Zhu Ziqing’s proses into English. This thesis consists of six chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces the research background, purpose, significance and methodology. The second chapter is the literature review part, presenting the status quo of the research and trend of the Eco-translatology theory. The third chapter makes a comprehensive overview about the theoretical framework of Eco-translatology theory, including its connotation, origin and development. The fourth chapter is the preparation and translation of Zhu Ziqing’s proses. The fifth chapter discusses the translation practice of Zhu Ziqing’s proses based on the three-dimensional conversion under the domestication and foreignization strategies. The last chapter summarizes the main findings, limitations and recommendations for further research work. |
