The Application Of Interactive Teaching Model To English Reading Teaching In Junior High School

Reading is one of the important means for people to obtain information.It is a complex process of psychological activity and an interactive process among individuals,discourses and society.As the reading comprehension becomes more important in the learning process,researchers have proposed various reading teaching models to guide reading teaching.Since the interactive teaching model was put forward,many researches on interactive teaching model have been done at home and abroad.The interactive teaching model brings the path of English reading teaching reform.It regards student as the center and teacher as the guider,which uses corresponding reading strategies to stimulate students’ background knowledge and schemas related to reading materials in their minds,improving students’ reading efficiency.In this study,a total of 90 students in grade eight of Qifang Street Campus of No.8 Middle School in Urumqi were selected as the research subjects,and a four-month teaching experiment was carried out.Among them,class 7 is the experimental class and class 8 is the control class;the experimental class adopts interactive teaching model for English reading teaching,while the control class still uses the conventional(traditional)English teaching methods currently existed in this school.The two classes were taught by the same teacher,using the same teaching materials(Go for it!).In this study,data collection was mainly carried out through questionnaires,tests,and interview.Later,data processing and analysis were conducted through spss17.0.According to the research results,the following conclusions can be drawn: the interactive teaching model not only emphasizes basic language knowledge,but also emphasizes the teaching of background knowledge and reading strategies,which can effectively increase students’ reading interest.Compared with traditional English teaching methods,interactive reading teaching model can effectively improve students’ reading performance.In general,the interactive teaching model is effective in junior high school English reading teaching,and it is worth popularizing and applying.
