As an important way of imputing information,reading plays an irreplaceable role in learning English.Many researchers devoted themselves into the study of reading teaching model,which in order to present a more effective model in reading teaching.Rumelhart put forward the interactive reading model in 1977,which combined the top-down and bottom-up reading model.Recently,the interactive reading model has become the research focus of many linguists and educators.In this thesis,the author takes junior high school students as the subjects to verify whether the interactive reading model can effectively improve junior high school students’ reading interest and scores.Selecting two classes(108 students)from No.66 middle in Urumqi as the research subjects,the author conducts the experiment from September 2018 to January 2019.Class 18 Grade 9 is the experimental class and Class 19 Grade 9 is the controlled class,which use interactive reading model and bottom-up reading model respectively.The research methods that the author uses including questionnaire,test papers,interview sheet and educational experiment.Meanwhile,the author takes one reading text from the English book of Grade 9 as an example to elaborate the teaching design of interactive reading model.The thesis mainly studies the following questions: 1.What is the current English reading situation of Junior three students in No.66 middle school in Urumqi? 2.Can the interactive reading model improve students’ reading score effectively? 3.Can the interactive reading model activate students’ reading interest?According to the research results,the conclusions can be drawn as follows: First,before the experiment,the teaching of English reading in No.66 middle school is still based on the bottom-up teaching model,which leads to the relatively low reading interest and test score of students.Second,compared with the bottom-up model,the interactive reading model is effective in improving students’ reading scores.Third,the interactive reading model emphasizes basic language knowledge,background knowledge and reading strategies,which helps to improve students’ reading interest.To conclude,the interactive reading model is effective in junior high school English teaching and it is worthy of promotion and application.
