| The issue of Chinese word classes is a long-standing thorny problem in Chinese grammar studies. As a typical analytic language,Chinese lacks morphological changes, which makes the identification of word classes quite tricky. This is especially reflected in the word class labeling in Chinese-foreign language dictionaries. So far in academia, there have been quite a few studies on word class labeling in Chinese-English dictionaries, but almost no research on Chinese-Spanish dictionaries. As China’s economic and cultural exchanges with Spain and Latin American countries become increasingly close,it is necessary to conduct more and more in-depth research on Chinese-Spanish learner’s dictionaries. In view of this, this thesis selects Diccionario Conciso Espa(?)ol-Chino Chino-Espa(?)ol(DCECCE for short),the only Chinese-Spanish dictionary to have labeled its entries with word classes at present in China,to conduct a comprehensive study of word class labeling of its Chinese entries(Chinese-Spanish part)from the perspective of the Two-level Word Class Categorization Theory. This study is based on big data, through the DIY database of word class labeling, combined with quantitative and qualitative analysis,to investigate the macrostructure and microstructure of DCECCE,and it is found that there are both achievements and problems in the word class labeling of the dictionary. In terms of the representation of macrostructure, the lexemes in the dictionary are labeled on the basis of distinguishing between words and non-words,but due to the deviation of the compiler’s wordhood view, the distinction between words and non-words for single-character and double-character lexemes is not accurate enough;the overall proportion of heterosemy in DCECCE is slightly higher than in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary(6th edition). But influenced by the“Principle of Parsimony”,the number and proportion of heterosemy in the dictionary are still not significant enough to truly reflect the status quo of multiple class membership in Modern Chinese. In terms of the representation of microstructure, most of the entries follow the Principle of Translating by Word Classes, while a few cases that fail to follow the principle are particularly reflected in the mix-labeled entries;some of the entries also fail to implement the Principle of Symmetry. There exists chaos in the word class labeling of the lexemes with symmetric relations, such as co-hyponyms,synonyms and antonyms. This study fills in the gaps in the study of word class labeling in Chinese-Spanish dictionaries, aiming to improve the compilation quality of Chinese-Spanish dictionaries and promote the internationalization of the Chinese language in the new era. |
