In recent years, the research on translation has gone far beyond the technical aspects of transforming one language into another and beyond the traditional translation theories. With new technologies blurring the distinction between "original" and its reproduction, and globalization redefining the boundaries of nations and cultures,"translation" is now becoming a reformulated theme,an active, interdisciplinary theory.Nation, language, and the ethics of translation are at the heart of this debate.Nation,Language, and the Ethics of Translation is a collection of essays on translation studies in the academic framework of ethnics, language and so on,co-edited by Sandra Berman and Michael Wood. There are six parts and four chapters in this collection. This report is a translation and practice report based on the first two sections of the first chapter of Nation,Language, and the Ethics of Translation. This part mainly deals with “The Public Role of Writers and Intellectuals” and “Issues in the Translatability of Law”,which mainly expounds the impact of translation as medium and across media on society and culture. The thesis will use George Steiner’s Hermeneutics translation theory to guide this translation practice, and adopt the four-step translation theory of this theory to optimize the transmission of academic information in the original text. This report is divided into five parts. The first chapter mainly introduces the relevant background and the literature review of the original text. The second chapteris a description of the whole process of translation and reporting, including pre-translation preparation and text analysis. The third chapter mainly introduces the translation theory of the report, namely Hermeneutics translation theory of George Steiner.Chapter four is the key of this report, that is,the case analysis of the translation practice. The last chapter is a summary and reflection.
