| Climate change is a problem that plagues people all over the world,and many Asian cities are currently facing this same situation firsthand.In the United States and the European Union,experimental approaches have been applied in many fields,including climate change governance.Therefore,it may be a good choice to explore methods of controlling climate change in Asian cities under the guidance of experimentalism.The translation of foreign texts on experimentalist governance of climate change in Asian megacities can provide a reference for policy-making in related fields.Under the guidance of Catford’s translation shifts,this report mainly discusses the characteristics and prospects of the application of experimentalism in the treatment of urban climate problems in Asia,studies the translation skills,and summarizes the translation experience.The source text is a paper selected from the book Devising a Clean Energy Strategy for Asian Cities,which was published by Springer Publisher in August 2018.This translation practice report is divided into four chapters.Chapter One is about the translation task description,including its background,significance,and text features.Chapter Two describes the task process,including preparations for translation,translation procedure,and quality control.Chapter Three is case analysis which analyzes the translation methods of the source text from three levels:lexical,syntactic,and discourse,under the guidance of Catford’s translation shifts.Chapter Four summarizes the experience and lessons of the translation practice and points out the attendant problems.Through this translation practice,the translator has enhanced the understanding of the translation of environmental science texts.It is expected that this translation can enrich the researches on environmental science translation in China and provide references for the future translation and research of this field. |
