A Practice Report On The Translation Of South Asia Economic Focus:Export Wanted

One belt,one road initiative has been attracting investment in South Asia.China’s investment in South Asia has been growing.Therefore,we must deepen economic cooperation with South Asia and strengthen relations with South Asia.Therefore,it is of great significance for China to cooperate and develop relations with South Asia and further expand the investment scale in South Asia to understand the economic situation,policies and prospects of South Asia.This practice report is based on some chapters of South Asia Economic Focus:Export Wanted released by the World Bank in early 2019.Through focusing on the import and export trade of South Asia,the material analyzes the reasons for the decline of economic growth in South Asia and forecasts the future economic development trend of South Asia.It further points out that although the economic growth in South Asia is strong,it is mainly driven by import demand,and its economic structure is fundamentally unbalanced.In the process of translation practice,the writer analyzed the key and difficult problems encountered and summarizes them into two categories:one is the problems with vocabulary translation,including the translation of pronouns and nouns;the other is the problems with clause translation,including the translation of adverbial clauses,attributive clauses and nominal clauses.The writer offers different solutions to the problems at different levels.For the first problem,the writer consults a large number of materials,determines the correct choice of Chinese translation of vocabulary,and uses the part of speech conversion method,addition translation method and saving translation method;for the second problem,the writer flexibly uses the translation strategies of the original order method,the reverse order method,the split method and the fusion method according to different situations.Through the writing of this practice report,the writer summarized the characteristics of economic texts,such as being clear in logic,compact in structure,formal in language and abundant in terms and data,and put forward the translation strategies applicable to economic reports based on the translation theories and skills learned.The writer hopes that this translation practice report can provide some reference for other translators to translate economic texts.
