A Report On The Chinese-English Translation Of Construction Project Of Fixed Vehicle Exhaust Remote Sensing Monitoring System And Black Smoke Vehicle Capture System In Zhuzhou(Excerpts)

With the development of global economic integration and the enhancement of China’s comprehensive national strength,exchanges and cooperation between countries are increasingly close.With more and more Chinese enterprises going abroad and investing in the construction of international projects,the demand for the translation of international project bidding materials and documents is also increasing.It is vital to understand and translate the bidding documents correctly.The report is based on a technical bidding document of Hunan Pujian Bidding Co.,Ltd on the Construction Project of Fixed Vehicle Exhaust Remote Sensing Monitoring System and Black Smoke Vehicle Capture System in Zhuzhou(Excerpts).Guided by Skopos theory,this paper first introduces background of the task,purpose and significance of the source text,and expounds the translation process of the source text in detail.By analyzing the linguistic features of the original text,under the guidance of three principles of Skopos theory,the translation methods of the technical bidding document are as followed:omission,division,combination,conversion,amplification,literal translation and linear translation.Finally,the report summarizes the difficulties and enlightenment that the author has encountered in translation practice,as follows:First of all,it is necessary to be familiar with the style of the source text and language features of it in order to translate it accurately;second,as a student major in Translation and Interpreting,it is necessary to broaden the scope of knowledge,so the author can translate the materials with higher quality.Through this translation practice,the author has a better understanding of the bidding documents and masters the translation skills of the same pattern texts,whose translation work provides a new reference for the translation of the same type of texts.The author hopes that the translation methods summarized in this paper will be beneficial to the translators of the same texts in the future to help more Chinese enterprises integrate into the international market and enhance China’s international influence.
