One of the characteristics of the smart classroom is to emphasize the interaction between teachers and students,students and students,as well as the collection and analysis of big data,because only in this way can individual learning services be provided for each learner.Therefore,the advent of the big data era also allows the vigorous development of smart classroom.This research aims to explore the effect of smart classroom teaching on students’ English reading performance and learning motivation.This study is to answer the following research questions through teaching experiments,questionnaire surveys,interviews and other methods:1.What kind of effect does the smart classroom teaching model have on the English reading performance of students in specialty-oriented classes of secondary vocational school?2.What is the effect of the smart classroom teaching model on the English reading motivation and attitude of the students in specialty-oriented classes of secondary vocational school?This teaching experiment randomly selected two classes in the third grade of the author’s school,and designates class 1 as the control group and class 2 as the experimental group.The total number of students in the experimental class is 50 and the total number of people in the control group is also 50.Class 2 of the experimental group was taught by the author.Class 1 of the control group was taught by the author’s colleague Mr.Li.The students in the two classes are both around 18 years old.They have already studied English for 2 years in the vocational school and were taught in traditional ways.So they have certain English learning abilities.In the pre-test,the levels of the two classes are relatively close.After a semester,the selected students in the experimental class and the control class are tested at the end of the semester to analyze whether the students in the experimental class who apply the smart classroom teaching model have higher scores than those in the control class.After the post-test papers were collected,SPSS software was used to analyze the collected data.In order to ensure the effectiveness of the smart classroom teaching mode,an interview was conducted with 10 teachers and 20 students in the experimental class to understand the real needs of teachers and students and obtain more valuable information about the smart classroom teaching model.In addition,the study also use questionnaire to explore the effect of smart classroom teaching model.The research results show that 1)the English reading level of the students who adopt the smart classroom teaching model is significantly higher than that of the students who use the traditional teaching method and that more students took the initiative to participate in interactive teaching activities in the classroom.Most students could actively answer questions,participate in discussions and display.In-depth classroom interaction has enhanced students’ self-confidence in learning and language skills.Moreover,the effect of student group discussion,exchange and cooperative inquiry was greatly improved.Since the members of the group had a clear division of responsibilities,all members played their roles and actively participated in the discussion process.the participation of students in cooperative learning has been significantly increased,and the effect of student-student interaction has improved.Students who adopt the smart classroom teaching model have significantly more positive English reading motivation and attitudes than the students of the traditional teaching method.Therefore,smart classroom teaching with appropriate teaching methods can improve the English reading level and learning motivation of secondary vocational students;in order to develop smart classrooms,the training of smart skills and innovative teaching talents should be strengthened,and students’ ability tosolve problems and think about problems should be strengthened.And attach importance to personalized teaching to meet the needs of students.This research can provide important theoretical and practical enlightenment,provide ideas for teachers engaged in secondary vocational English teaching,and provide reasonable templates and frameworks that can be referenced and used.The research results of this article have certain theoretical significance for the teaching design methods of smart classroom teaching models in different types of courses,and hope to lay the foundation for follow-up theoretical research.
