The Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards points out that teachers should create situations so that students can experience and understand real language.In the background of task-based language teaching,students are encouraged to discover language rules through cooperative learning with the teachers’ help,gradually acquire language knowledge and improve learning abilities,constantly adjust their emotional attitude,develop a scientific and efficient learning strategy,and train autonomous learning capabilities.Besides,students’ English reading abilities have also been emphasized.Reading can not only help students increase their language knowledge and extend their words,but also train their English communication and English writing strategies.Therefore,as a supplement to traditional teaching,cooperative learning is used in task-based reading teaching.In this background,the author has investigated the current status of task-based reading teaching based on cooperative learning model in English reading class of Qilihe Middle School in Yixian County,Jinzhou City.This paper aims to explore the application of task-based English reading teaching in junior high school based on cooperative learning mode from the perspective of students and teachers.The questions of this survey are as follows:Question 1: What is current situation of English reading class implementing task-based reading teaching based on cooperative learning mode according to teachers’ and students’ feedback in junior high school?Question 2: What is the classroom teaching effect of task-based reading teachingbased on cooperative learning mode in the course of organizing class?Question 3: What is the effect of task-based reading teaching based on cooperative learning mode on students’ reading achievement?Based on the above questions,two questionnaires were conducted among 131 students and 5 English teachers in the grade eight of a middle school in Yixian County to know about the current situation of English reading class implementing task-based reading teaching based on cooperative learning mode.In order to know whether task-based reading teaching under cooperative learning mode can improve students’ performance,all students in the second grade were tested for English reading twice.32 English reading classes were observed to obtain the classroom teaching effect of task-based reading teaching under cooperative learning mode.Finally,a conclusion was drawn by analyzing the collected effective data.The results indicate most students and teachers hold a more optimistic attitude to the present situation of task-based reading teaching based on cooperative learning.Teachers and students like task-based reading teaching based on cooperative learning mode,and believe that this teaching can improve interest in learning English reading.However,during the implementation process,there are also problems.For example,grouping method is unreasonable,and some group members could not communicate with others in English.Secondly,the English reading classroom teaching effect under this model has a good effect,and language learning,cognitive development,and sense-making have been cultivated to a certain extent.In addition,task-based reading teaching under cooperative learning mode can improve students’ reading performance.The significance of this research has two aspects.On the one hand,it investigates the status and effects of task-based reading teaching in junior high school under cooperative learning model.On the other hand,it provides reference for the research and analysis of task-based reading teaching based on cooperative learning mode.
