With the continuous promotion of the new curriculum reform,TBLT is gradually being used in junior high school English reading teaching.Teachers use real tasks as a carrier to stimulate students’ interest in learning,so that they can learn knowledge and accumulate skills in the process of completing tasks,thus transforming their learning styles and optimizing their learning effects.Teaching practice proves that this is a teaching method that can more actively and positively promote students’ reading level and enable them to think independently in their learning.The various task activities of TBLT are conducive to the educational concept of“students are the main body”,and the cooperative learning is also in line with the interactive principle of the TBLT.Therefore,this paper tries to combine them,based on the current application of TBLT in junior high school English reading classroom,through the use of cooperative learning,to explore whether the application of cooperative learning based on TBLT in English classroom is more conducive to improving students’ reading level.Based on the current situation of the application of TBLT,this paper takes 48 students in Class 13 Grade 8 of a middle school in Nanning as the research subjects and uses research tools such as tests and interviews to focus on these two questions:(1)Under this teaching model,what changes have been made in the English reading level of students in the experimental class?(2)Under this teaching model,what changes have been made in the English reading level of students in high-score,medium-score and low-score groups in the experimental class?The experiment was conducted for one semester using the TBLT in the control class and cooperative Learning based on TBLT in the experimental class,while maintaining the same content,pace,and duration.This paper compared the data before and after the experiment with the help of SPSS 26.0,and analyzed the interview results,and came up with the following findings:(1)The cooperative learning of English reading in junior high school based on TBLT promotes students’ overall improvement in reading level.Cooperative learning requires students to actively participate in group learning to complete a common task together,and to actively express their personal opinions and listen to the opinions of group members.When completing reading tasks,students need to understand the structure of the text,practice their own reading strategies and reading skills,and improve their reading levels.At the same time,students enhance their motivation to learn to read through competition and cooperation among groups,thus strengthening their understanding of the reading material and achieving improved reading levels.(2)Cooperative learning of English reading in junior high school based on TBLT promotes significant improvement of students’ reading level in high school and low grouping.The author found that the sig values of all three groups were lower than 0.05.Through interviews,the author found that under the cooperative English reading learning based on TBLT,each group established a unified goal and worked together to complete the reading task.In the process of completing the group reading tasks,all students were actively thinking and using their own strengths and advantages.By communicating with each other,they develop a strong sense of cooperation and cooperative skills,master the content of reading instruction efficiently,and improve the quality of instruction.Based on the above findings,the following pedagogical insights were drawn:(1)Teachers should develop teaching tasks and design cooperative learning activities rationally based on the instructional materials when conducting classroom activities for reading instruction.(2)Teachers should strengthen the cultivation of students’ awareness of cooperative learning and strengthen the training of cooperative learning and cooperative skills in the classroom so that students in each group can play to their own strengths and improve the quality of the classroom.Through the discussion in this paper,the cooperative learning of English reading in junior high school based on TBLT has a certain influence on junior high school students’ reading level,teachers can try to adopt this teaching mode to improve junior high school students’ English reading level in their teaching practice.
