Student-oriented education proposed by Guo Sile(2001)takes “everything for students,highly respects students,and fully relys on students” as the core concept.It takes “teaching is students’ autonomous learning under the guidance of teachers’ organization” as the teaching concept.Its teaching model is guided by pre-homework.It requires students to really participate in learning.It promotes students’ autonomous learning;In class,teacher effectively guides students to show the results of pre-class discussion and students can learn autonomously,cooperatively and inquisitively;After class,students can reflect,sort out and integrate knowledge what they have learned effectively.This is consistent with the concept advocated by English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education---let students think actively,participate actively,cooperate and exchange,dare to explore,analyze and solve problems etc.This study which is based on the concept of English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education and student-oriented education is carried out.Its aim is to apply the student-oriented class teaching model to rural English teaching in junior middle school,to explore whether the implementation of student-oriented class teaching in rural junior middle schools is effective or not,so as to provide some suggestions of implementing student-oriented class teaching for English teachers in junior middle school.This study puts forward the following two research hypotheses:1)The student-oriented class teaching model effectively improves students’ English performance in rural junior middle school.2)The student-oriented class teaching model has an effect on students’ autonomous learning English in rural junior middle school.The author takes 94 students of Grade 9 from Xin Du No.2 Middle School in Ba Bu District of He Zhou City as the research subjects and the teacher has carried out teaching experiment for 18 weeks.This study mainly uses testing,questionnaire survey,teacher-student interviews for data collection.The results show that: the implementation of student-oriented class teaching model in rural junior middle school English class can effectively improve students’ English grades,especially for underachievers.They are gradually interested in English learning.They can finish the pre-homework before class,present themselves boldly in class,participate actively in class discussion,communicate and interact.Students’ autonomous learning has been improved on the whole,especially in learning motivation,learning time-management and learning methods...
