| As the construction of a Moderately Prosperous Society in all aspect accessed the final crucial stage in China,the economic well-being of ethnic minority regions received increasing attentions.And it was against this background that the publisher,Yunnan University Press,decided to bring International Handbook of Research on Indigenous Entrepreneurship to the Chinese readers.In this book,a group of distinguished scholars investigated and surveyed on the economic development of ethnic minority settlements over five continents and the experiences reported and findings put forward are of relevance for the minority regions in China,including many regions of Yunnan province.The translator was a member of the translation team and responsible for the first draft of Volume V.In the process of translation,John Cunison Cartford’s translation shifts theory was employed to help solve some difficulties arising out of the translation,not the least those concerning the difference of grammatical phenomena in English and Chinese language uses in the translation of International Handbook of Research on Indigenous Entrepreneurship.In this report,after a brief introduction into the background of the project,and of the major stages of the translation activity,some cases will be shown and analyzed from the perspective of level shifts and category shifts.In the case analysis,the translator will explain in detail how the translation method based on this theory play the guiding role in the translation of information texts. |
