A Practice Report On The E-C Translation Of Emotion And The Contemporary Museum:Development Of A Geographically-informed Approach To Visitor Evaluation(Excerpts)

The author of this practice report analyzed and summarized the process of E-C translation of the informative text Emotion and the Contemporary Museum: Development of a Geographically-Informed Approach to Visitor Evaluation(excerpts)on cultural geography and new museology under the guidance of communicative translation and semantic translation.Since the source text is an informative text,the author aimed to accurately convey the information of source text in the translation process.To achieve the goal of transmission of the source text information,different methods and skills such as amplification,annotation,division and adjustment of word order were adopted.The author of this report analyzed the translation methods and skills adopted during the translation process to achieve the translation purpose.Meanwhile,the guiding role of communicative translation and semantic translation in the translation of informative texts was explored.In addition,the author expected to provide reference for the translation study of the similar type academic writings.To achieve the research purpose,case study is adopted as the method.From the perspective of lexical level,syntactic level and discourse level,the report analyzed typical examples selected from the translated version of Emotion and the Contemporary Museum: Development of a Geographically-Informed Approach to Visitor Evaluation(excerpts)and explored the significance of using different translation methods and techniques under the guidance of communicative translation and semantic translation.What’s more,the author of this report verified the guiding role of semantic translation and communicative translation in the translation of informative texts.
