In recent years, with the development of our society, social sciences have played a very important role in this process. Therefore, the translation of social science texts is particularly important. The translation text selected for this translation practice report is Invisible Women:Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men.A representative work by British author Caroline Criado Perez, the book uses a lot of data to show how,in a world largely built for and by men,we are systematically ignoring half the population. It exposes the gender data gap--a gap in our knowledge that is at the root of perpetual, systemic discrimination against women, and that has created a pervasive but invisible bias with a profound effect on women’s lives.Source language belongs to a social science text, and the translation of social science texts provides an important basis for people to understand and change the world. There are four parts, namely: task analysis, theoretical foundation, case analysis, findings and limitations of the translation practice.Based on Newmark’s text typology theory and communicative translation theory and the characteristics of social science texts, when translating Chapter 3 and 5,the translator summarizes specific translation methods. In terms of lexical level, standardized translation, contextualization of common words and pronouns explicitness are used.In terms of syntactic level, conversion method, reverse order method, division and the change of voice are adopted. It is pointed out that social science text translation should be formal, precise, clear, fluent and easy to understand, and pay attention to language readability. The translator hopes this report will provide reference and help for the translation and research of related texts.
