| Speaking after listening teaching method is one of the language learning promotion methods based on the xu-argument put forward by Professor Wang Chuming.This method combines listening with speaking training skillfully to promote learners’ language learning.At present,the applied research on speaking after listening teaching method is mainly focused on language teaching in college and senior high school,while there are few studies on listening and speaking teaching for junior middle school students based on speaking after listening teaching method.In view of this,based on the relevant theories of the xu-argument,the author will attempt to apply speaking after listening teaching method to English teaching in junior middle school,aiming to provide reference for junior middle school English teachers to apply this teaching method to English listening and speaking teaching,and explore the effects of speaking after listening teaching method on junior middle school students’ English listening and speaking learning.The research subjects in this thesis are 94 students from the two classes of Grade 8 in R Middle School of Guiyang.Among them,the class with 49 students is chosen as the experimental class and the class with 45 students is selected as the control class.This experiment lasts for18 weeks.The two classes use the same teaching materials,which is published by People’s Education Press Go for it!.The experiment consists of three stages.Before the experiment,the author finds that the two classes are at the same level in English listening and speaking,and collects the information about the attitude,learning ways and problems of the two classes in listening and speaking learning through the results of the interview and the pre-test.The next is while-experiment stage.The author adopts speaking after listening teaching method for listening and speaking teaching in the experimental class,while adopts the previous listening and speaking teaching method in the control class.After the experiment,the author conducts a post-test on the students of the two classes and conducts the questionnaire survey and the interview on the experimental class.Finally,the author uses SPSS 22.0 to analyze the data.From the data analysis,the author draws the following conclusions:speaking after listening teaching method has a positive effect on students’ learning attitude,behavior and their listening and speaking level.The students in the experimental class are more interested and confident in English listening and speaking than before,and they are also more proactive in learning.At the same time,they have significant improvement of their topic expression.The experimental results of this study have some implications to junior middle school teaching.In speaking and listening teaching,teachers should design various steps and activities in the class according to the actual situation,provide opportunities for students to practice both listening and speaking,and leave students enough time to express in English.In addition,teachers can encourage students to read and imitate the listening materials repeatedly,so as to make full use of the listening materials. |
