This is an English-Chinese translation practice report.The original text is selected from Charles J.Simon’s Will Computers Revolt.This book was published in the future artificial intelligence press in 2018,and there is no Chinese translation yet.The translated chapter selected by the translator contains 12912 words,which mainly introduces the contents of the field of artificial intelligence,and makes a detailed introduction to the future development of artificial intelligence by introducing the concepts of general artificial intelligence computer,machine learning,brain simulation,general intelligence theory and so on.The original text is a scientific involves translation difficulties such as technical terms,initialism,attributive clauses.The report explains and solves the difficulties from three levels of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.Difficulties at the lexical level include:technical terms and initialism,translations of words that need to be added,omitted,or transformed,and words that need to be annotated.The methods used are: literal translation,transference and annotation,conversion of parts of speech,amplification and omission.Difficulties at the syntactic level include the passive sentences,attributive clauses and compound sentences.Solutions include restructuring,conversion of voice,combination,and division.The main difficulty at the syntactic level is the use of cohesive paragraphs.Solutions to this problem include retaining of cohesive device and conversion of cohesive device.Through this translation practice,on the basis of being faithful to the original text and according to the characteristics of the original text,the translator summarizes the corresponding translation methods from the levels of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.
