Clinical Efficacy Of A Traditional Chinese Medicine Shengqi Herbal Paste For Preventing Postoperative Recurrence Of Colorectal Adenomatous Polyps

Objective: Observation and evaluation of a traditional Chinese medicine Shengqi Herbal Paste on postoperative recurrence and clinical symptom improvement of patients with colorectal adenomatous polyps in China,which provides objective evidence for the use of traditional Chinese medicine to prevent postoperative recurrence of colorectal adenomatous polyps.Method:The cases in this study were all from patients who visited the anorectal outpatient clinic or ward of the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of traditional Chinese medicine between October 2019 and October2020 and met the criteria for inclusion and exclusion.A total of 60 cases were randomly divided into control group and observation group,all underwent colonoscopic polypectomy at our institution,and the control group was given routine Rehydration after surgery,Observation group on the basis of the control group was given traditional Chinese medicine Shengqi Herbal Paste orally starting 1 week after surgery,the course of treatment was 3 months,the statistics of traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores were performed on the two groups respectively after the end of medication,enteroscopy was reviewed 1 year after surgery,recurrence of the two groups was compared,and the enteroscopy situation was statistically analyzed.Results: In this study,a total of 58 patients finally completed the trial,including 30 patients in the control group and 28 patients in the observation group,and at 1 year after surgery,the recurrence rate was36.67% in the control group and 14.29% in the observation group,and the observation group was superior to the control group in preventing the recurrence of colorectal adenomatous polyps after surgery,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).In the analysis of the relationship between general data and recurrence,we found that body mass index and the number of adenomas were significantly associated with postoperative recurrence of colorectal adenomatous polyps(P<0.05).In the comparison of traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores,the improvement of diarrhea and tenesmus symptoms in the observation group after treatment was better than that in the control group,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05);After treatment,there were no significant differences between the observation group in improving the symptoms of abdominal pain,bloating,constipation,hematochezia,and mucous stools compared with the control group(P>0.05).In the observation group,the symptoms of abdominal pain,bloating,diarrhea,hematochezia,and tenesmus all improved significantly before and after treatment,with significant differences(P<0.01),while symptoms of constipation and mucous stools were ameliorated with significant differences(P<0.05).In the control group,the symptoms of abdominal pain improved significantly before and after treatment,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01),while the symptoms of abdominal distension,diarrhea,and hematochezia were also improved,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: The traditional Chinese medicine Shengqi Herbal Paste can effectively reduce the recurrence rate of colorectal adenomatous polyps after surgery,and can improve the symptoms such as diarrhea and tenesmus in patients,without adverse effects,and has good clinical promotion value.
